My time

03Aug09

I’ve been spending all of my time editing for my documentary so I haven’t been taking many photos recently. Plus, my camera is on the fritz.
I think I’ll be making myself do some shoots this fall, once I get my camera working again.

A comment photo on how we only really show half of ourselves to the world. We hide what we do not like, from the world and sometimes from ourselves.

Low Key lighting.  I set a soft box to my right of the subject and back a little bit.  I also set a reflector by the subject, but a few feet away, as to not make the flash to strong.

Medium Key light.  I had a soft box set to the my right of the subject, with a backlight keeping the background even and a front light with barn doors putting a diagonal line, left-right, across the subjects face to take out many of the shadows.

High Key lighting.  I had a soft box and regular light set front lighting with an umbrella flash bleaching out the background.

I was having fun with the idea of lighting a light with lights… So this is another studio light we have in the studio, I didn’t want to show too much of the stand and make the photo dull.  The is a front light shot using the soft box as a fill light.

Here is that same shot with just the key light.  The inside of the light’s barn doors and the background are clearly the things most affected by the fill.
